What
is Wireless Broadband?
A
wireless broadband service allows high-speed, "always on" access
to the Internet from a range of locations.
It
is a mobile or portable Internet access solution that untethers
the user from cables or a specific room, or location. Wireless Broadband
does to Internet, as a mobile does to phone calls.
It's
fast, secure and easy to set up. All this at a price starting from
just $10 per month.
Wireless
Broadband is a residential grade service and applications that are
sensitive to latency, jitter or packet loss, such as voice or real
time video streaming, or require high volume continuous file transfers
may be adversely affected. It is a mobility Internet access product
and not intended to be used as a fixed broadband replacement, nor
intended to be used for mission critical applications or purposes.
Who
is it For?
- Businessmen
and women, sales personnel and those who need Internet access
on the road
- People
unable to get ADSL, e.g., on "pair gains" or no available
ports
- Those
in rental accommodation, who move regularly
- Users
who would like to drop their home phone line and save on line
rental
- Those
who don't want to be tied down by cables -- use the Internet in
any room in the home or office.
- Someone
who wants to share a broadband Internet between work and home.
Advantages
- Great
Coverage: FutureWeb Wireless Broadband permits Internet access
from a wide range of locations via the Optus 3G/HSDPA or GSM Network
that covers 98% of the population. Much better coverage than '3'
or Vodafone.
- Low
Cost: Much cheaper than Telstra NextG, e.g., $19.95 per month
for only 400MB (for $3.45 less you get 2½ times the data
with FutureWeb), also cheaper than Optus: save $3.50 per month
on a 1GB plan, and Optus' additional data is nearly twice as expensive!
- No
gouging with downloads: Data is calculated to the nearest
Kilobyte, unlike Wireless Broadband through Optus that have a
minimum download of 10MB each time you connect -- check your e-mail
and find there is none... that's 10MB towards your monthly quota!
- Static
IP Address:
Whereas other providers have dynamic IP Addresses assigned from
a "pool", FutureWeb wireless broadband assigns a Static
IP Address, making it easier for those connecting via VPN. Also
you don't have to worry about the IP Address being blocked by
an International Black List, because the last person to have that
IP Address sent Spam.
