What
is Wireless Broadband?
A
wireless broadband service allows high-speed, "always on" access
to the Internet from a range of locations.
It
is a mobile or portable Internet access solution that untethers
the user from cables or a specific room, or location. Wireless Broadband
does to Internet, as a mobile does to phone calls.
It's
fast, secure and easy to set up. All this at a price starting from
rates similar to normal ADSL.
Wireless
Broadband is a residential grade service and applications that are
sensitive to latency, jitter or packet loss, such as voice or real
time video streaming, or require high volume continuous file transfers
may be adversely affected. It is a mobility Internet access product
and not intended to be used as a fixed broadband replacement, nor
intended to be used for mission critical applications or purposes.
Who
is it For?
- Businessmen,
sales personnel and those who need Internet access on the road
- People
unable to get ADSL, e.g., on "pair gains" or no available
ports
- Those
in rental accommodation, who move regularly
- Users
who would like to drop their home phone line and save on line
rental
- Those
who don't want to be tied down by cables -- use the Internet in
any room in the home or office.
- Someone
who wants to share a broadband Internet between work and home.
Plans
FutureWeb
Wireless Broadband plans on the Optus Network are much cheaper than
Telstra NextG , Optus Retail and others, don't come with the gouging
inherent in Optus Retail plans, such as a 10MB minimum download
every time you connect), and have wide coverage -- much better than
plans from Vodafone or '3'.
For more details, see http://futureweb.com.au/wireless/wireless-optus.asp
'3'
Plans are also available but coverage is limited to capital cities,
The Gold Coast, Wollongong and Geelong.
