Advantages
- Great
Coverage: FutureWeb Wireless Broadband permits Internet access
from a wide range of locations via the Optus 3G/HSDPA or GSM Network
that covers over 80% of the population. Much better coverage than
'3' or Vodafone.
- Low
Cost: Much cheaper than Telstra NextG, e.g., $29.95 per month
for only 200MB (for $5 less you get five times the data with FutureWeb),
then 25¢ per MB (that's 2½ times more than you'll
pay on a FutureWeb plan!), also cheaper than Optus: save $15 per
month on a 1GB usage plan, save $17 on a 2GB usage, and Optus
additional data is 50% more expensive!
- No
gouging with downloads: Data is calculated to the nearest
Kilobyte, unlike Wireless Broadband through Optus that have a
minimum download of 10MB each time you connect -- check your e-mail
and find there is none... that's 10MB towards your monthly quota!

Megabytes" and "Additional Megabytes" mean the total
of uploaded and downloaded data. Unused data or time does not carry
forward to subsequent months.
Maximum
download speeds on the 3G/HSDPA network are 3.6 Mbps. Based on network
testing, average speeds are between 500 kbps and 1.5 Mbps. Actual
speeds may be slower. Outside 3G coverage areas, users may switch
to the GSM network where the speed is normally between 56 kbps and
114 kbps.
Usage
is limited to 6 GB per month on all plans, except for the 6 GB Plan
which has a 7 GB limit. Customers using more than this will be suspend
until midnight on the last day of that month.
Migration
to a higher or lower plan incurs no charge. If monthly data or time
has been exceed at the time of migration, excess charges will apply.
For
the 24 Month Plans, an Early Termination Fee is applicable (up to
6 months: $198; 7-12 months: $165; 13-18 months: $104.50; 19-24
months: $66).
All
plans are subject to availability. Customers must check coverage
maps before signing.
Coverage
The
coverage area of the 3G/HSDPA Network is not equal to the coverage
area of the GSM Network. For the latest coverage information visit

Terms
and Conditions
Like
all wireless broadband, this is a residential grade service and
applications that are sensitive to latency, jitter or packet loss,
such as voice or real time video streaming, or require high volume
continuous file transfers may be adversely affected. It is a mobility
Internet access product and not intended to be used as a fixed broadband
replacement, nor intended to be used for mission critical applications
or purposes.
The service is not to be used for the provision of services to support peer to peer applications (encrypted or unencrypted).
The
shared nature of the Optus Network means that throughput speeds
are variable depending on the number of End Users simultaneously
connected and associated transmission rates of those End Users.
The
speed of the Service, integrity and performance of the network for
all users is dependent upon:
a) The number of End Users using the Service or a similar service
at the same time
b) End Users not using the Service for sustained, high-volume traffic
or for extended periods of time at low data speeds
c) FutureWeb's providers may vary the Service, without liability,
if reasonably required for technical or operational reasons.
Upgrades
and downgrades: Customers may upgrade or downgrade their plans at
no charge. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle (from the
start of the next month). For Time Based Plans, any unused hours
are lost and excess hours cannot be included in the upgraded plan.
For Usage Based Plans, the amount of data used is not reset until
the 1st of the month, where the Customer has exceeded their usage
allowance defined by their Plan a charge per MB will be applied.
Pre-Paid
Plans
a) Pre-Paid Plans may be purchased in blocks of Time or blocks of
Data.
b) Each Pre-Paid Plan has a set period (Expiry) in which the allowance
must be used.
c) If the allowance has been depleted before the Expiry, the service
becomes inactive and unused allowance is lost.
d) Customers should top up before their allowance is depleted or
their plan expires. If there is no active plan for a grace period
of five days the service will be terminated. Once the service (SIM)
has been terminated, it cannot be reactivated... a new plan must
be purchased and another Setup Fee applies to cover the cost of
the SIM.
e)
If there is any allowance (Time or Data) remaining when the plan
expires, that allowance is lost, even if a subsequent "top
up" has been purchased for the service.
f) The Expiry Date of a "top up" is not determined by
the purchase date of the "top up". It is calculated by
the start date of the plan, which is determined by i) the Expiry
Date of the previous plan (top up), or ii) the date the previous
plan (top up) allowance was depleted.
g) Changing from a Monthly or 24 Month Plan to a Pre-Paid Plan will
incur pro-rata calculations for the recurring charges, and in addition,
the Early Termination Fee in the case of 24 Month contract Plan.
Customers
will be disconnected for several seconds between 11:30pm - midnight
each day. This is required to update daily usage records.
Coverage
and Data Transfer Speeds:
The service is only available in areas covered by the Optus Network.
In areas that the service is available, Optus does not warrant that:
a) the service is available in each place within an area where there
is coverage;
b) dropouts will not occur;
c) there will be no delays in transferring data when switching between
bearer networks;
d) there will be no congestion on the Optus Mobile Network; and
e) There will be no lost packets of data or failures in downloads.
The coverage area of the 3G/HSDPA Network is not equal to the coverage
area of the GSM Network. For the latest coverage information visit
www.optus.com.au/coverage
